Split PDF
Extract pages, delete pages or split a PDF into several files, with page previews and no upload.
Your files never leave your device
Large PDFs are often more than you want to send. You may need only one signed page from a contract, a single chapter of a manual, a report without its blank pages, or each invoice in a combined file saved separately. Splitting the PDF lets you share exactly the pages that matter and keep file sizes small.
The tool below shows every page as a preview so you can see what you are choosing. Extract the pages you want into a new file, delete the ones you do not need, split the document by page ranges, or cut it into equal parts every few pages. The new PDFs are built inside your browser, so the original document is never uploaded.
The pages are copied, not re-rendered, so text stays sharp and searchable. Check the result before you send it, especially page numbers printed on the pages themselves, which will not change. To join files back together, use Merge PDF.

One PDF · up to 300 MB · page previews for up to 400 pages

Need only page 4 of a 60-page report, a contract without its blank last page, or every chapter of a manual as a separate file? This free Split PDF tool shows each page as a preview, lets you pick exactly what you need and builds the new PDFs inside your browser, without uploading your document.
Your files never leave your device. This Split PDF tool runs 100% in your browser. There are no uploads, no accounts and no watermarks, and there is no tracking inside the tool.
How to split a PDF
- Open your PDF. Click Select PDF file or drop a PDF onto the box. Every page appears as a numbered preview.
- Pick a mode. Choose Extract pages, Delete pages, Split by ranges or Every N pages.
- Choose the pages. Tap previews to select them, use the All, Odd, Even and Invert shortcuts, or type a list such as 1-3, 7, 10-end.
- Download. Press the action button. A single result downloads straight away; several files are listed one by one and can be saved together as a ZIP.
Four ways to split
Why split PDFs in your browser?
People split PDFs to share just the relevant part of a document, and that part is often personal: one bank statement out of a year of statements, the page of a lease that needs a signature, a single result from a set of medical tests. Uploading the whole file to a website in order to send one page somewhere else exposes far more than necessary.
WorldScope Split PDF never uploads anything. Your browser reads the file from your disk. PDF.js, the open-source PDF engine that Firefox uses to display PDFs, draws the small page previews. pdf-lib then copies the selected pages into new documents, and your browser saves them to your device. The only things fetched from the internet are the two libraries themselves, loaded from the jsDelivr CDN with integrity checks so the code cannot be swapped silently.
Page lists, explained
Every mode that asks for pages understands the same simple syntax, so you can type faster than you can tap:
| You type | You get |
|---|---|
| 3 | Page 3 only |
| 1-3, 7 | Pages 1, 2, 3 and 7 |
| 10-end | Page 10 to the last page |
| 5-1 | Pages 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 (reversed) |
| 1-2, 3-5, 6-end | In Split by ranges: three separate PDFs |
Spaces are optional, and the tool checks your list as you type, telling you how many pages and files the result will contain before you press the button.
Good to know
- Your original is never changed. Splitting always creates new files; the PDF on your device stays exactly as it was.
- Quality is preserved. Pages are copied, not re-rendered. Text remains selectable and searchable, and images keep their resolution.
- Document extras are dropped. Bookmarks, form fields and digital signatures belong to the whole document, so they are not copied into the split files.
- Big files depend on your device. Hundreds of pages are fine on a computer; a phone with little free memory may struggle with very large scans.
Want the pages as pictures instead? PDF to JPG turns each page into an image. To put split pieces back together, or to combine them with other documents, use Merge PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Is Split PDF free to use?
Yes. It is free, with no sign-up, watermark or page limit. All the work happens in your browser, so there is nothing to pay for.
Are my PDF files uploaded?
No. Your PDF is opened and split on your device by two open-source libraries, pdf-lib and PDF.js. Only the library code comes from a public CDN; your document is never sent to a server.
How do I extract a single page from a PDF?
Open the file, keep Extract pages selected, tap the page you want (or type its number) and press Extract pages. You get a one-page PDF.
How do I remove pages from a PDF?
Switch to Delete pages, tap the pages to remove (they turn red) and press Delete pages. The tool saves a copy of the document without them; your original file is not changed.
Can I split a PDF into individual pages?
Yes. Choose Every N pages and leave the number at 1. Each page becomes its own PDF, and Download all (ZIP) saves them together.
What does a range like 6-end mean?
end (or last) stands for the final page, so 6-end means page 6 to the last page. A reversed range such as 5-1 outputs those pages in reverse order.
Is the quality reduced?
No. Pages are copied as they are, so text stays sharp and selectable, and images are not re-compressed. The previews are only for display.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
Not until it is unlocked. Open it with its password in a PDF reader, save or print an unprotected copy, then split that copy.
