About Us

Last updated: October 24, 2026

WorldScope is an independent English-language blog run from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. We publish two kinds of pages: short, sourced articles on football, world news, technology and business, and free calculators and tools that work in your browser, each with a guide that explains how it works.

Founder and editor: Abdullah Al-Janoubi

Abdullah Al-Janoubi is a Saudi writer based in Riyadh. He founded WorldScope and is its editor. He chooses the stories and tools we cover, edits and checks every article against its linked sources before it is published, and is responsible for corrections and updates. Articles on WorldScope carry his byline.

What we publish

  • News and explainers: football and other sports, world news, technology and business, written to explain what happened and why it matters.
  • Calculators: tools for Saudi VAT, end-of-service awards, zakat and Islamic inheritance, plus loans, mortgages, compound interest, Hijri dates, match kickoff times and GPA. Each one comes with a guide to the rules behind it. See all of them on our Calculators page.
  • Free tools: PDF, image, text and audio tools that run in your browser. See them on our Tools page.

How we work

  1. Choosing a story. We pick stories that people are talking about and that we can check against a reliable source: an official statement, a court or government document, a company release or established news reporting.
  2. Research. We collect the original sources first. Research and first drafts are AI-assisted: we use AI tools to help find and summarise sources and to draft text.
  3. Human editing. Abdullah Al-Janoubi reads every draft against its sources, removes anything that cannot be checked, rewrites it in our own words and decides whether it is published. AI tools never publish anything on their own.
  4. Sources on the page. Articles end with a Sources section that links to the original reports, statements or documents, so you can check the facts yourself.
  5. Updates. When a story changes, we update the article. Calculator guides are re-checked when official rules or rates change.

Sources and quotes

  • Verified facts only. We only state something as fact when a reliable source supports it. Claims we cannot confirm are left out or clearly labelled as reports, rumours or opinion.
  • Official sources first. For Saudi rules, such as VAT, the Labour Law or zakat, we link to the official government source wherever one is available.
  • No invented quotes. Quotes are reproduced as published by a named source. We keep them short and explain the rest in our own words.
  • Images. We use our own graphics or images we are allowed to use, and credit the author and licence where the licence requires it.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it and add a dated correction note to the article. To report an error, use the form on our Contact Us page and include the page link and what needs fixing. You can read the full rules in our Editorial Policy.

How WorldScope is funded

WorldScope is free to read and use. It is funded by advertising, which may be served by Google. Advertisers have no say in what we cover or how we cover it, and we do not publish paid or sponsored articles. Our calculators and tools are free, with no sign-up.

Calculators are information, not advice

Our calculators give estimates for information only. They are not financial, legal or religious advice. For important decisions, check the result with the official body or a qualified adviser.
