X Pilots Invite-Only "Video Kickstart Bonus" Paying Creators a Fixed $3,000

X, the social platform owned by Elon Musk, is testing a new way to pay video creators. Its "Video Kickstart Bonus" offers a fixed $3,000 to invited creators who post enough original vertical videos, with no requirement for views or engagement.

Key points

  • The pilot was announced on October 15, 2026, by Allegra Jacchia, Creator Product lead, in a post on X.
  • Invited creators who post at least 15 eligible videos on 15 different days within 30 days receive a fixed $3,000.
  • Videos must be vertical, under three minutes and made by the creator. Clips already posted elsewhere count if they have no watermark.
  • The programme is invite-only, and enrolment closes on October 30, 2026.
  • Payment does not depend on views or likes, unlike X's existing Original Content Rewards.

What X announced

"We're doubling down on video on X," Allegra Jacchia wrote when she announced the pilot. "Today, we're piloting Video Kickstart Bonus, an invite-only program that rewards creators for posting their video content here." Mint and News18 describe Jacchia as Creator Product Lead at SpaceXAI.

According to her post and coverage by Mint, News18 and Net Influencer, invitations are being sent out over several days, and creators who receive one will find the programme in the Programs section of Creator Studio.

The rules

To qualify for the $3,000 payment, invited creators must meet these conditions:

  • Format: every video must be vertical and shorter than three minutes.
  • Originality: the content must be created by the person posting it. News18 notes that commentary videos may qualify if the creator adds meaningful original input, but simply reposting someone else's content does not.
  • Reuse: videos already posted on other platforms are allowed, as long as they carry no watermark.
  • Consistency: at least 15 videos must be posted on 15 separate days within the 30-day campaign. Posting all 15 on one day does not count.
  • Deadline: invited creators must enrol by October 30, 2026.

How it differs from X's other creator payments

The key difference is that the bonus is fixed. Under X's separate Original Content Rewards programme, earnings are linked to engagement from X Premium subscribers. Mint reports that the conditions for that programme, such as a Premium subscription, 500 verified followers and 500,000 impressions, do not apply to the Kickstart pilot.

Participants also get fast-track access to Original Content Rewards, subject to that programme's own rules, Mint reports. Net Influencer says in-app messaging presents the bonus as a pathway into that tier.

Who can join?

For now, only invited creators. X has not published the criteria it uses to choose them, so meeting a particular follower count or view target does not guarantee an invite, according to Mint and News18. X has also not said whether the pilot will be expanded or opened to the public.

Why X is doing this

Short vertical video is the most competitive format in social media, dominated by TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels. Paying a fixed amount for regular posting gives creators a reason to put their existing clips on X without waiting to see whether they go viral. Allowing videos that have already appeared on other platforms makes it easy to take part, as long as the watermark is removed.

There are open questions. A fixed payment rewards posting consistently, not quality, and X has not said how it will judge originality at scale. Creators should read the in-app terms carefully before enrolling, because only videos that meet every rule count towards the 15.

Why it matters

For creators, this is a rare offer of guaranteed money on a social platform, if you are invited. For X, it is a test of whether paying for supply can grow its short-video library quickly. Whether the pilot becomes a permanent programme will depend on what X learns over the 30-day campaign. Until X announces more, treat it as a limited experiment, not a standard monetisation option.
