GTA 6 release date and time
Rockstar's current date is 19 November 2026, a Thursday. Take-Two and Rockstar have confirmed the day but, as of 25 October, not the exact unlock time in each region. The US PlayStation Store listing shows 05:00 UTC on 19 November, which would be 08:00 in Riyadh, but treat that as a store placeholder until Rockstar publishes its own unlock schedule. Most big console launches unlock at local midnight on the release date, and we will update this hub as soon as times are official.
The date has moved twice. GTA VI was announced with its first trailer in December 2023 for a 2025 release. In May 2025 Rockstar pushed it to 26 May 2026, and in November 2025 it moved again, to 19 November 2026. Rockstar has a history here: Red Dead Redemption 2 slipped by about a year before launch.
Price and editions
There are two editions, both available digitally.
- Standard Edition: $79.99 (£69.99). The full single-player game.
- Ultimate Edition: $99.99 (£89.99). Adds extra in-game content on top of the full game; check the store listing for the exact list. Standard owners can buy the Ultimate upgrade separately at any time.
Rockstar's own support page says the physical version contains only a download code, with no disc in the box, so you will still need an internet connection and enough free storage to install it.
Pre-order bonuses: the Vintage Vice City Pack and GTA+
All pre-orders and purchases made before 20 November 2026 include the Vintage Vice City Pack. Rockstar lists its contents as:
- a '55 Vapid Stanier sedan and a garage;
- outfits and hairstyles;
- an exclusive weapon pattern.
Digital pre-orders also come with one month of GTA+, Rockstar's paid membership. On PlayStation the free month must be claimed by 31 March 2027, and the subscription renews at the normal monthly price unless you cancel it.
Preload and download
If you buy digitally, preloading starts at local midnight on 12 November 2026, seven days before launch. Boxed copies go on sale the same day so that their codes can be redeemed for the preload too. Rockstar, Sony and Microsoft have not published a download size yet. The real figure should appear on the store page when preloading opens, and a day-one patch could add to it.
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and the PC question
GTA VI is a current-generation console game only: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no PS4 or Xbox One version. The PlayStation Store lists it as "PS5 Pro Enhanced", but Rockstar has not detailed what the Pro version adds. The launch trailer released on 15 October 2026 says all of its footage was captured on a standard PS5.
There is no official PC version. T3 has reported claims of a PC release in the first quarter of 2027, but Rockstar has not confirmed this. For context, GTA V reached PC almost two years after its 2013 console debut. If you are weighing a hardware upgrade for the game, our look at what the PS6 could cost is worth reading first.
What it means for players
Players in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf can buy the game through the regional PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store, and Rockstar's support page lists Saudi Arabia and the UAE among its regional retail groups for boxed copies. Before launch, turn on automatic downloads, update your console software, clear storage space, and redeem any boxed code before 12 November so the preload can start. If the Vintage Vice City Pack matters to you, buy before 20 November. Arabic language support has not been confirmed in the sources we checked.
Story, setting and characters
GTA VI is set in Leonida, a fictional US state based on Florida, and returns to a modern version of the Miami-inspired Vice City. Its two playable leads are Jason and Lucia. Take-Two describes it as a single-player experience.
Rockstar has released three trailers: the reveal in December 2023, a second in May 2025 that passed 100 million views according to the BBC, and the launch trailer on 15 October 2026. That last trailer confirmed that the electronic duo Justice composed the score, with a new track, "Flower in a Hurricane", featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. Rockstar has also been reworking basics such as weapon selection, as we reported in Rockstar's weapon wheel tests.
Why the launch is a big deal
GTA V came out in 2013 and, according to the BBC, is the second best-selling game of all time, still popular thanks to GTA Online. It is widely expected to be one of the biggest entertainment launches of the decade. Some commentators even ask what it might do to productivity on launch day, a question we looked at in could GTA 6 cost the US economy $1 billion in a day. The development has not been without controversy: in late October 2025 Rockstar dismissed 31 staff at its UK studios, and the IWGB union accused it of union-busting.
